Principals Message
Welcome to the 2011-12 school year. I am excited to be the leader of a very dedicated, caring and professional team of teachers, instructional assistants and other support staff. As the year begins our team is busy preparing to provide our students with a caring, student-centered, standards-based and goal-oriented education.
Our teachers, as a PLC, will utilize the Data Team process to analyze student data, design interventions and develop SMART goals. Students at Jacob Wiens will utilize two new technological learning tools: MAP and Odyssey. These computer-based programs are designed to measure each student’s progress then, design an individualized learning path, which will assist each student in achieving their individual learning goal and increase overall student achievement.
In addition, Jacob Wiens’ staff is the proud recipient of the Scribes Project Master grant which will provide a valuable professional development opportunity for our teachers to strategize and develop new instructional strategies and practices.
This year promises to be a busy yet exciting year of learning with its challenges and celebrations. It will take the collaborative teamwork of our community and parent groups such as PTA, ELAC and SSC to enhance the educational experience of all students at Jacob Wiens and to help us reach our goal of producing students who are high achievers, possess a love for learning and who are productive and caring citizens.
As always if you have any questions, suggestions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (951) 929-3734 or email me at dchilds@hemetusd.k12.ca.us.
